Retail Store Detective/Loss Prevention Officer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Retail Store Detective to join our investigative team. This role requires covert monitoring of customer behaviour on the sales floor to detect theft, fraud and other security breaches. This role requires attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. Candidates must have significant experience of retail security.

Key Responsibilities

• Covert monitoring and observation of customer behaviour on the sales floor to detect theft, fraud, and other security breaches.
• Conduct surveillance using CCTV systems and physical presence to identify and apprehend shoplifters.
• Collaborate with store management and police to report and investigate incidents of theft and fraud.
• Perform routine inspections of the store to ensure security measures are in place and functioning properly.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents, including witness statements and evidence, for use in legal proceedings if necessary.
• Assist in the training of staff on loss prevention techniques and awareness.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and legal regulations regarding loss prevention and security.

Qualifications

• SIA licence
• Proven experience in retail security, loss prevention, or a related field is essential.
• Strong observational and analytical skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers, employees, and law enforcement.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills, including familiarity with CCTV systems and report writing.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk the sales floor, and apprehend suspects if necessary.

This role requires travel between regional areas and has a fuel compensation scheme/ travel allowance on top of the hourly rate.
